Gearing Up For Texas

Heading down to Dallas tomorrow morning, you know, to tell my story to a room full of wild Texans. Pretty excited to check out the town, too. I’m in good hands with DeLoach! Let’s do this.

- - - -

MEANWHILE, BACK IN MICHIGAN: An old man has a calling, accepts the challenge, and brings smiles to the faces of thousands of rotten, little kids. And man, you’d think with a fifth of schnapps in him, he could muster a little more of a smile. Bah hum bug.

- - - -

INCREDIBLE, OLD MICHIGAN AD: Makes you want to be there, all Fall long. Horses, dames and boats. I got my tickets for “Home For The Holidaze 2009” a couple weeks back, so, you know, get that couch ready for me, Mom. (The link we’re getting after here was sent in by Peter Baker! Band of the hand!)

- - - -

ONE OF THE BEST TATTOOS I’VE SEEN IN A LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG TIME: The King of the Breeds, inked!

- - - -

DAYWRECKER WARNING: iscanmanuals.com! Just like it says, motherscanners! BBS! Big, beauitful scans!

Of course, those surveyors know how to do it right.

Or this one. Anyone of these old Leicas would be incredible to have.

(My day was wrecked by none other than Brent Couchman. Just so you know. You beast! Some dangerous bytes there.)

- - - -

JUST LIKE IT SAYS: One hell of a lockup. I’ll say. Yee Haw is the bee’s knees.

ON THE PLAYER:

01. Thee Oh Sees - Help
02. Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out
03. Alan Lomax - Deep River of Song: Mississippi - The Blues Lineage

Hey man, if you haven’t seen Fantastic Mr. Fox yet I can’t recommend it enough. It’s got the usual Anderson-y goodness and yet so much more. I actually unintentionally and audibly gasped at one particular bit of typography. Look for Mrs. Fox’s signature as they pan down the mural. Amazing.

Alan Lomax was a genius! I have a number of his recordings - Prison Songs Vol. 1 is one of my favs.
