We’re off to Gresham this morning to hit an estate sale. Dale lined up a good one. Getting up early. Pretty excited.

REQUIRED READING: Frank Chimero let’s you in on some of his magic over at Grain Edit. Don’t miss this one, readers. Stuff to be learned from Mr. Chimero.

- - - -

FROM “SOUTH CAROLINA GIL,” FAR, FAR AWAY: A little something for Nakamoto and Jess, those fish-smelling sumbitches: “They Hook and Hold.”

- - - -

ON THE PLAYER, AFTER A LONG MORNING OF JUNKIN’: Bonnie “Prince” Billy’s latest, Beware. Ryno, get this thing now. Got a real good swagger to it. Nice and lazy. The DDC will reimburse you. So good. And man, what an incredible album cover.

Get real beardy with Billy and his, “I Am Goodbye.”

FROM MINNEAPOLIS: Laurie Demartino, whom I was lucky enough to be in a type class she was teaching at MCAD, updates her Identity kit with help from the Studio On Fire letterpressers. Wow. Really nice. One of my Minneapolis favorites!

TRYING LIKE HELL TO GET THROUGH THIS ONE: Paul Renner: The Art of Typography. Creator of a little font called, “Futura.” A font for a whole lifetime. That’s a long time.

- - - -

THOSE COMB ORDERS ARE COMING IN STEADILY: First hardass to order one today gets a free mystery gift! Hell, everyone does. There you go. Some incentive, above the normal “we’ll cover the shipping” and “you need these” threats. The “DDC Hair Organizer.” Got a good ring to it. Place an order now and get that mop in order.

JUST SOME WORDS: No link here. Just some words. Another work week shot to shit. Went by too fast. Five bad breath mornings. Five hearty lunches. Five late nights. I’m hoping five “cool things” made, too.

“Make something good each day.” That’s the marching orders for the DDC.

I look at so much stuff and just freak out how many amazing designers there are out there doing so much good work. Makes ya feel small and happy to be a little dot in the DPI of American Graphic Design. Things are good. Have a good weekend, readers. Thanks for coming by and keeping me going.

As always, it’s a good preamble to the weekend to check out your blog. My sorry ass never got around to congratulating you on the Tiger/Obama thing. KUDOS! VEEERY COOL! And if you didn’t see it Hulu the man himself (Obama) on Leno. Good stuff. It’s great having a humble, human being in charge of things. Have a great weekend Draplin.

I did chuckle at those unruly serifs that invaded over your hair organizer font.
Prety funy stuf.
Its 10 minutes past beer-thirty. Later
