WE MAKE THINGS FOR ROCKERS: I’ve been pretty fired up to show you this album design for some time now. But of course, I had to wait until release dates and all that stuff. You make these things all hot and heavy, go back and forth with a band, sweat it out, laugh, cry, quit the band, come crawling back on my knees, lug some amps, tune some guitars, whatever…then you hand the art in and wait. Been on pins and needles for a couple months!

Kevin from Portland’s Viva Voce contacted me a couple years back about possibly helping out with some Blue Giant stuff. That’s another band of theirs, aside from Viva Voce. Little more twang, little more Byrds in the mix, you know? Rad shit. Anyhoo, he was threatening us with stuff like this, “We’re gonna work together on something, someday…” And we took his words to heart, and kept a little space free in our wild-ass workload, for that time when he’d called upon our services.

And a year or whatever later, we were lucky to ink a deal with the Viva Voce Music Enterprise, and today, we’re showing you what we made.

Cuz let’s just get something straight, here: This wasn’t for the DDC. This was for a band. The graphics, the overall design-ness, we made it together. They came to me with a pretty specific set of needs and direction, and it was my job to translate and execute. I can’t help but be so excited about what we came up with. Kevin and Anita fed me large plates of awesome reference and feedback, and together, as a team, we made what you are seeing on the site today.

It’s “Viva Voce Day” on the DDC factory floor, and man, pride is PUMPING through our veins. Turn it up!

Fuckin’ A man, great job. Can’t wait to get my hands on this vinyl. Also: this is Viva Voce’s best album yet.

this has an awesome retro look, like something my 70yo pops would have laying around.

Saw them with the Shins in San Diego a few years back. Really, really rockin’ stuff. Dug their love-bug gig a lot.
