WE MAKE LOGOS FOR GOOD PEOPLE WITH COOL IDEAS: And a couple months back I got a call from Brenden Dawes and Lou Cordwell of Magnetic North in Manchester, about a little project they were cooking up. We quickly inked a little deal and I was off and running. Hell, I knew I’d say “Yes” before I even heard about the whole thing. I’ve seen that “Dawes” name attached to all sorts of rad shit over the years, so I knew I was in good company.

That first logo turned into two logos. One for their new company called “Beep Industries” and the second for a product they were developing called “Red Pop.”

I type these words with a big sigh, exhausted, as I’ve been fighting the urge to tell you guys all about this one for so long, but couldn’t, and had to keep my big trap shut.

They’ve made this incredible attachment device for yer iPhone, inspired by Brenden’s dad! Think about how much you use that damn phone. How much we live on the thing. And then think about how this will make the photo experience that much richer. Very, very cool.

So all this time, in the shadows, we’ve been making logos. Portland to Manchester, and back. Wee hours. Clandestine e-mails. Time zones flip-flopped. International intrigue.

And yesterday, they launched Red Pop’s Kickstarter, through the Beep Industries enterprise.

And today, Red Pop is already funded! Well over their target. And hell, in like 24 hours! INCREDIBLE.

I’m writing these words right now, from the same mitts that made the logos for these two projects, and I’m glowing with pride. Excited as hell for them.

These folks are inventors. This, precisely, is what fires me up the most about my contribution to such a cool thing. They are sticking their necks out there, and letting a cool idea guide them. When you boil it down, it’s this brand of “guts” that can make little ideas really big, or a product we touch ALL day long that much better, or something old totally new, or hell, maybe just make the world a cooler place. I’m betting on all of them.

That’s the spirit that we tap into when we make Field Notes. You know, the memo books? Look them up.

Thank you Beep! Lou, Gina and Brenden! Thank you for trusting the DDC. Glowing with pride over here!
