DAYWRECKER WARNING: Hold on to your hats, folks, this one is gonna floor you. The American Geographical Society map wall map archive from the University of Wisconsin. 326 of the things. Wow. Beautiful colors, type, keys and scale. They just don’t make ‘em like they used to, and man, what a shame that is. Thanks, Milwaukee.

Who wouldn’t want this on their wall?

Wisconsin never looked so good. Gorgeous.

Old wall maps. Doesn’t get much better, really. Been a fan of these things for some time now. We’ve got this one hanging in our spare bedroom. Get a load of the so-called “value” of the thing. (Scroll down some.) You’ll have to pry this map from my cold, dead fingers when I do bite the big one. That’s all there is to it.

ONE MORE: Another treasure that stopped me in my tracks.

BOILING BLOOD: Speaking of old maps… Mark Simonson sets the record straight on the Indiana Jones map sequence typographic anachronisms. Shame, shame. Unacceptable.

Hey Hollywood, let this be a lesson to you up-and-comers!

WHAT WE LISTENED TO EARLY THIS MORNING, BROUGHT ON BY DALE, MORE OR LESS: Melvins - Houdini

Been a long time. “Spread Eagle Beagle” is still one of my favorite song titles of all goddamn time. Reminds me of waiting for Derek to come out of his room, to drive us all up to the mountain. 1994. I still owe that fucker so much for a winter’s worth of rides up to the hill. Three of us. Roommates. Bend, Oregon. Staats Street. There’s some speculation that he hated Chad and I that winter, but, I think the truth is that deep down inside him, he loved us with all of his heart. Even when we’d fuck up the kitchen trying to cook supper.
