Our 1000th post.

What started somewhere in the Fall of ‘98, is going on eight proud years of communicating all the little and big shit in my world. Pretty cool. It all started with monthly emails. I have always been a fan of a well-written letter, and a beautifully lettered envelope. Email just got easier and easier, and a way to communicate to all the freinds painlessly. This blog started with postings of those monthly updates, and once the technology was available, lept forward.

Things ramped up in December 2000. Cam set up my first blog, with software that allowed me to post stuff daily, relatively quick and easy. Blogging was a new thing those days. My conviction/need to retell all this shit in some sort of public forum solved a big problem for me. It was a concise way to keep in touch with all the different folks from all the chapters of my life. I mean, I’ve been lucky enough to spend summers in Alaska, winters in Minnesota, time on the hill in Oregon, glacier living on Mt. Hood, carny tours in Michigan, beach horseshit in SoCal and now, big/small city life in Portland. There are many people I still love from all those different worlds, and this thing offers a way to “put it all out there” if any one gives a shit what I’m up to.

Plus, I like sharing stuff. Always have. Ideas, rants, design, work, inspiration, wonders, fears and happiness. I like to talk. I like to listen. I like to share ideas and “get it all out there.” You know the deal.

Seems like blogs are popping up everywhere these days. Some beautiful, some with off-the-shelf. chumpy templates, more or less, with predictable content. Sorry. This stuff is so amazing to me. I just see alot of stuff that is predictable, and, hell, expect more and more as technology marches on.

Special goddamn thanks to Cameron Barrett for his coding muscle, dedication to web excellence, guidance, maintainence, patience and brotherhood. Thanks, man.

Absolutely amazing: Seed Magazine’s Phylotaxis logo design rubbed me the right way.
