Dude, it totally looks like the stuff you were building in Foundations 3D… your metal portfolio and stuff. I think you should buy it- it would look tits with a DDC sticker on there…

Lots of tough talk about “who’s buying what come August” all day long at work. Fuck it, I’m gonna rewire my Speak and Spell™.

Nice lines on that beauty, eh? Reminds me of my lady: Smooth, sleek and expensive.

How come whenever I upgrade my old computer, they come out with a new one. Damn the man. I can never get ahead of the game

You gotta grin and bear it and skip a generation. That’s the only way to get your money’s worth. And for all the people that are rushing to buy the G5 now, well, they’ll be kicking themselves in 2 months when Apple drops the price on them by 300 bones. Happens every time.

This is nuts…Draplin you sumed it up…Mother Fucker. Just look at that thing!!!

Dare to dream!

What happened to the American dream? A house, your own piece of America that you can pay taxes on to help support our poor under acheivers?

Whats up with your Missy? All this mushy talk a while back and now your baggin on her cats? Damn you kidds sure like to jack the rules around. Suck it up and get on with what ever you are going to do. You use to yank me around about the ladies now its my turn.

Got a couple of DMO openings this summer if your looking to find a job with some rack time built in. Could probaly hook you up. Sides that we need a t-shirt, no one with balls enough to do it.

Kurt’s got it right. Apple has a habit of dropping the price on their newest babies - initially about 2 months after initial ship dates. But, also keep in mind that the 3Ghz machines have been “proclaimed” by Mr. Jobs and these will ship by the end of the year. Typically Steve normally doesn’t say anything about upcoming speed bumps. He has a history of keeping his mouth shut. So, why did he announce this and why should you care?

Apple has been steady at 5% market share, 2nd behind PC’s. But Linux desktops are slowly climbing the ladder and Apple will become 3rd (still at 5% or greater). So, Steve, being the savvy businessman that he is sees this RISE as an opportunity to ride the Linux coattails up the ladder.

Imagine: Linux starts eating away at the PC market share (happening) and Apple announces that they HAVE better/faster machines NOW and even faster machines coming SOON (just happened)! PC customers question (happening) their loyalty to the PC monolith and start looking for options. Who’s there? Apple or Linux? They’re both reliable (PC user’s typically don’t argue this) but only one option has been fast enough for PC users to consider leaving M$ (the reason why the Linux market share is growing). Now Apple can proclaim that they are FASTER - resulting in an increase in PC users migrating to Apple. Result, smaller PC market share, larger Apple and Linux market share.

But what does this mean? Oh yeah, it means that the prices of new G5’s will drop even more when the 3Ghz machines come out. It happens every time there is a speed bump.

Cool?

Just my $.02.

ps. concerned about missing new computer releases and speed bumps and such - treat your computer purchase like a lease and you’ll be much happier.

Andrew:

1- 1st generation machines usually suck (okay, they’re ‘buggy’).

2- From what I’ve been reading in the last year, Apple was only at 5% market share for a brief while — they’ve actually been hovering at 2-3% for more than a year…

Blah, Blah, Blah.

Nerds. All y’all.

Posted by: Ryno on 06/24/03 at 3:06 PM

Yeah, I’m not sure that was the point of my post, but thanks for checking my facts for me. *GRIN*

Ryno-
Everyone has a “nerd” specialty (i.e. knowing an ungodly amount of knowledge/obsession about) be it cars, wine, movies, the A-Team, comics, country music, etc. There’s even those who are nerds about…>ugh

I to am a bit sick of the never ending upgrading and “this is it” proclimations the computer industry keeps putting out. Maybe they can wait a month or 3, combine 2 or 3 models to a truely super upgrade.

Now I think I’ll instant message Draplin’s upgraded Speak and Spell with my upgraded Atari 2600…

Posted by: Maniotes on 06/24/03 at 4:10 PM

Andrew, stop being such a nerd. Booze and broads, not market share and speed bumps. Get it straight.

Posted by: Bradford on 06/25/03 at 12:49 AM

Hey Brad, I do a lot of Photoshop work myself. But I am forced to do it for love as opposed to doing it for money. I feel that keeps my work pure and honest though.

Posted by: Kurtford on 06/25/03 at 8:08 AM

Booze and broads? Hmm, the booze is good but I’m pretty sure I’m out of the “lookin’ for broads” game. Besides, I like being a nerd. How the hell else am I gonna answer your crazy mofu’n questions? “What’s a ‘puter?” indeed.
