Mastodon Stomping On My Head

HEAVY, WILD JAMS: Really getting into Mastodon’s new “The Hunter” album. I’ve tried and tried to get into their older stuff, and sometimes, they were just a little too, uh, abrasive for me. Too tough? On this album, the dudes croon a bit more, and I dig it. But interestingly enough, this album has made their earlier stuff that much more enjoyable. It’s like, this album taught me how to dig the old stuff. Or something. I don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about. Why am I telling you this? Like you care. Here’s why: This album rips.

And shit, the album cover is incredible! Get in real close on it here. Fuck yeah, Mastodon. Rip that shit up.

And fuck, my mind races as Portland buddies Red Fang is out there with them, kick ass across the land!

Coyle, make me a junior roadie. Take me under yer wing and teach me the fuckin’ ropes. You know, how to lift amps, muscle promoters for loot, wear the blackest of jeans and how to subsist on seven-bucks-a-day or whatever the fuck. If this graphic design stuff goes to pot, I’m going to make you adopt me. I could be yer kid. “Aaron Coyle.” Weird thoughts. There you go.

It’s so easy to get work done while listening to these guys, even their older stuff, for me. Love this album, looking forward to seeing them on Monday. Check out their video for “Black Toungue” as it shows the making of the sculpture for the cover: http://youtu.be/hwgqenxNUfs

I’m the opposite. First album only. March of the fire ants, Crusher destroyer, epic.

All hail Mastodon.
Saw these guys in Boise with Converge a few years back and have been a fan ever since. Their “Leviathan†album is one of my favorites.
If these guys ever go on tour with Doomriders I’ll pee my pants.
