Stomach Ache And Guts Pain

I’ve been off the radar for over a couple weeks, battling something scarier than deadlines or overlapping projects. And my wounds heal up, I wanted to get it all down, day-by-day, as it happened. So here goes. Maybe not for a “design blog”…but, for me.

A MELLOW WARNING: THESE WORDS AREN’T ABOUT GRAPHIC DESIGN, OR OLD SIGNS, OR WHATEVER BAND WE’RE CURRENTLY INTO. THE FOLLOWING MISSIVES ARE THE ACCOUNT OF “MY FINAL HURRAH OF 2010” OR, “HOW WE ACTED REALLY, REALLY STUPIDLY, SCARED OFF OUR ASSES.” YOU PICK.

SO HERE GOES: It started with a simple stomach ache. I’ll get them every 5-6 months, and just sort of ride ‘em out without the help of too much of anything. Maybe a Tumms or two,.

By noon I had the ache, and it packed a good thump. Fuck it, no sense in working the rest of the day. I threw the towel in and headed home for some couch time in the late afternoon. A couple hours later, the stomach ache progressed into a rhythmic pounding, which turned into intense side pains, or “cramps,” on my right side, at about belly button level.

I just chalked them up as stomach cramps or something. Bad sandwich from lunch? Stomach bug? Piece of glass in my drink from lunch? Bed bugs? Bruised ego? I rode it out for a couple hours, and things got back to normal later that night. Stomach ache gone. Side cramps gone. Went to bed feeling a little rough and exhausted, but feeling a lot better.
