Test-drove a handful of Volvos today. Nice rigs. Tight buttons. Nice type. Felt good trying them out. I’m sorta kinda in the market for a new rig. I tried the Ford Edge, all excited for a Detroit-made beast, but damn, they just don’t compare to Sweden. Not yet. Sorry, U.S.A. My heart hurts on that one.

But hey, I’m gonna be in that cockpit for (hopefully) the next 10 years, so shit, it’s gotta be right. And I keep looking…

I’ve been extremely happy with my Mazda. It’s designed in Japan but manufactured in the U.S.A. It’s a pretty solid car but I expect to start having problems with it around 120K.

If I had the money, I’d trade it in for a Subaru. Solid, solid, solid.

Volvos are great but the maintenance costs get kind of crazy.

Volvo is the way to go. Bought my S70 in ‘03 and it’s still riding great. Well built and driving well at 160 miles…

Ford bought Volvo almost ten years ago, so in a way you could call it an American car and keep your Detroit street cred. …oh wait, China just bought Volvo from Ford in August, so make sure you buy one made at least a couple months ago.

Don’t buy a new Volvo. Absolute pieces of shit, and absurdly expensive to fix the simplest things. $60 dipstick, for christ’s sake.
