Back Home And The Pants Are Off

I finally flew into Traverse City this afternoon. Just barely made it out of O’Hare. Barely. We were on the runway, in line to take off and got caught in this weird numbers game. “This is the Captain. We’re thrid to take off, on the first runway. Prepare for takeoff.” 20 minutes goes by, no movement. Then we’re pushed back to 12th in line. Then 17th. Then back up to 4th. This went on for a long time, freaking me out big time. After 28 hours in O’Hare, of course it had to be this way. It was snowing like crazy, and blowing, and just seemed to be getting worse by the minute in Chicago. Ahhhh, winter!

We took off, broke through the clouds and enjoyed a quick ride up to Traverse City, with a smooth landing in the Cherry Capital.

Phew. So relieved.

You know, I kept my cool the whole time down there. All these years of back and forth travel, I’ve just been so lucky with my flights and baggage and all of it . So yeah, so I lose a day to weather, and you know what? No sweat. I people-watched the whole time, watching people freak the fuck out, be creative with their little airport plot, entertain their kids, keep the peace, etc. The gamut.

It’s good to be back home with the parents.
