The image above is from a record found in Ellsworth, Michigan one and only junk store. So if yer wondering how we find this stuff, well, here’s how it goes: You go into a joint, find something incredible, and if you can’t purchase it due to price or volume issues, you get dirty and snap a photo of it. “Rescued,” right? You bet.

CAN’T REMEMBER IF I’VE BEEN HERE BEFORE, AND DON’T CARE: RetroLogo on Flickr. Get in there. Now. Every one of them is beautiful.

Like this one right here, and this one, and man, this beast!

(This one was sent by K. Henry out there in Lyndeborough, New Hamshire. Very appreciated.)

IT’S FRIDAY, AND MR. BAKER FOUND SOMETHING I JUST GOTTA PASS ON TO YOU: Album De Lettres. For glass signage applications. Wow.

KING OF THE BREEDS: Wisconsin’s very own Little Friends of Printmaking keeps it long and lean with their new weiner dog poster. We love long dogs too. (Sent in by Jen Davison, from right here in Portland. Thank you!)

LOVE THE NAME OF THIS OUTFIT: The Cranky Pressman. That’s where Mikey Burton gets nasty from time to time. Hell yes. Here’s some of their handiwork, too. Letterpress greatness. The next time you are in Salem, Ohio and need some letterpress muscle, well, these guys look like they can handle yer order just fine.

Our Wilderness cards pressed up by the good people of Studio On Fire/Beast Pieces has been hard at work in the shop and around town. Here’s what Goo had to say about the thickness of them, “Damn, I only fit five in my wallet at a time.” When we spec thick paper, well, we make sure that shit is thick. It sure is.

GOING DOWN UNDER FOR A SEC: To Sam Griffin and all his colleagues at school down there in Australia: “What’s up, mates? Thanks for supporting the DDC!”

Who cares is the place used to be a prison colony? I sure as hell don’t. Gives ‘em some grit, ya know? I went to New Zealand in 2000. Next time I go down that way, I’m going to Australia to give some little koalas a hug. Just look at little nuggets. Cute with a throat-slitting vengeance.

Thanks, Australia for yer flurry of DDC Merch orders! Much appreciated.

Love your close-ups that you take when out junkin’. Has anyone ever said anything to you when snapping pix at their junk (or in their shop, for that matter)? I wish I had my Nikon on me all the time whenever I too encounter cool little finds, but that would be impossible and cumbersome. Any secrets?
