Wow.

Well, I’ll just put it this way: Thank you to everyone for coming out for the show. And for buying stuff! And for shooting the shit with me and my family. And for all the nice things you said. I floated out of Office last night. Pretty much, one of the best nights of my little life. Thank you.

All nine “rescued type” collages sold out, and three of the nine plywood cutouts moved too! Sold a good stack of posters on top of that. All proceeds go to more and more of the same stuff. So cool. Thanks, everyone!

SOME SCENES FROM THE DEAL:

01. “One hell of a turnout.”
02. “Stuff up on the wall.”
03. “Check out all those red dots!”
04. “Just wait until the trunk show this Saturday!”
05. “Guests of Honor: Doreen and Corey Grove.”
06. “Even little Remy showed up.”

Kate Bingaman-Burt even dipped her show experience into the swirling vat of “What Did You Buy Today” juices, and out came this little humdinger. Pure awesome.

Holy hell…check out this write up! Thanks, Graham. Seriously. I oughta hire you to “class up” the site some with that kind of skill. Wow.

Thanks again to everyone who came. Still trying to wrap my head around it. Extra special thanks to Tony and Kelly of Office. You guys are the best.

See you at the “trunk show” on Saturday! Tons of DDC Merch specially-priced for moving. Seriously.

COMPLETE NONSENSE, BUT VERY EASY ON THE EYES: “Nonsense Info Graphics” by Chad Hagen out there in Minneapolis. Awesome stuff, man!

LESSONS TO BE LEARNED HERE: “The Case for Working With Your Hands” (Sent in by a guy with a great last name: Chris Avantaggio, you are golden.)

KING OF THE BREEDS: Enormous Champion’s incredible offering of “animal silhouettes that are made in the USA from wood grown in a sustainably harvested forest.” I was trying to do some of that with my plywood show pieces, but man, those are tight. I like the painted sidewall. Nice.

PAPER AND STAPLES, PEOPLE, PAPER AND STAPLES: Portland photo buddy Mark Welsh is back in Michigan visiting the family, and came across D.B. Moon’s beautiful memo book.

From a time long ago. Before iPhones, blackberries and dingleberries. Look at that handwriting. Look at the wear and tear. I can’t take it anymore. Thanks, buddy.

Old memo books. The greatest. So many lessons. It all adds up to doing my absolute best with Field Notes. That’s why we do it folks, that’s why we do it.

Man, I’m on the wrong freakin’ coast. Glad it was an awesome night - not surprised, though!

Will your DDC poster be available to purchase for the fans who live in middle America?

Your first show. That’s gotta feel good. Congrats to ya.

That NY Times article made me want to cry. I so lament the demise of school shop classes. Maybe that’s why roasting coffee is so satisfying. Because it’s real.

Your show was fantastic! Picked me up one o’them fancy new pocket tee’s…the white pen is a nice touch. I think that Graham guy was stalking me though, somehow Kim and I managed to end up in both of his photos.

Wish I would have made the show, congrats on the success. And thanks again for the conversation today, it is hard to find someone who can out-talk me — we should do it again.

Wish we could’ve been there.
I’m drooling over those plywood icons.
Bravo!

Though you’d dig these signs. Love the blog and find your work very inspiring. Greetings from Rochester NY.
