We’re off to Reno this weekend. Leigh and I. A chance to getaway, drive some desert roads, junk a little bit and get lost on the mean streets of Reno. We’re leaving Wednesday night, real late, and driving down past Bend towards Nevada’s northwestern lands.

Lots and lots of this: “The Biggest Little City In The World.”

So I’ve got today, tomorrow and wednesday to “get all the shit done” before I can split. As soon as I get back Union is going to be in town breathing down my neck. Gotta get to work. Have a good week, patriots!

ALL THE WAY FROM ARGENTINA, PEOPLE: Compumundo! Beautiful, beautiful stuff.

ALL CREATURES OF THE ANIMAL KINGDOM: Please check out this old San Diego Zoo map, and dig on the animal illustrations. For the record, all my life I built up the idea of the San Diego Zoo being this vast serengeti plain, artic tundra and rainforest jungle all wrapped into one, and, it kinda was, but, the place was a bit of a let down.

Maybe it was the fact I was 29 when I first saw it. It’s just…the place was dirty and the animal areas were so small and we walked around and just kinda felt bad for everything caged within. Sorry to get all heavy. That’s what comes to mind.

Nevertheless, I love this stuff.

GOOD LOOKIN’ TOOTH!: Courtesy of Justin Lucero, we give you, “Buns” the Dachshund.

We love our longhair cousins, too. Solidarity among long breeds!

ON THE PLAYER TODAY: Neko Case’s latest, “Middle Cyclone.” The vinyl is on the way, so the record store says.

Man, I’m right there with you on the zoo bit. Been there a handful of times since I moved here, and as far as zoos go it’s pretty top notch, but it’s still a zoo. The Wild Animal Park is more my speed. Check it out next time. They have the serengeti deal down.
