Lambchop Day and Night
Posted at 08:27 PM

030309_lambchop_day.jpg

THIS JUST IN, FROM OUR NATION’S CAPITOL: A little something we worked on the last four days, you know, for our country.

Partnering with Mode from Chicago, and Chris Glass from Dayton, Ohio. Proud patriots. More news coming, as it rolls in off the tickers…

PRETTY EXCITED FOR THIS ONE: Going to see Lambchop tonight at the Aladdin Theater. Smoky crooning from Nashville, Tenn. I’m gonna try to get over there early so I can get a good seat.

I like a guy who likes a good hat. I sent a DDC Action Cap to Mr. Wagner a couple months ago, high as hell on the his new (OH) Ohio album. I wonder if he got it?

Nevertheless, I’m excited to go take a load off and listen to some Lambchop up on stage.

And with that, we declare that today is “Lambchop Day,” all day, on the DDC factory floor.

THINGS ATTACHED TO HUNTING JACKETS: I’ve been here many, many times. Incredible stuff, and tons of it: oldtacklebox.com. Great name, great URL.

I was digging up old hunting licenses and came across their incredible collection of Pennsylvania examples. Don’t know the first thing about hunting, but do love that type. I’ve got a couple of the these from around this era, and man, the letters are pressed into that thick stock so nice.

That site is pretty vast. So much to see. Right here, is where I about lost it, and had to retreat back to the day job.

ONE WE FOUND WHILE SHOPPING ON THE EBAY AUCTION WEB-SITE: “The trade mark of quality made famous by good implements.”

Dude. Working for Obama? Unreal. Looks great. Can’t think of a better person for a USDOT job. Keep it up.

And good work on those logos too.

A little something? Shit, you’re so friggin’ modest. Nice work! Bearded designers only were awarded the work I assume?

I saw those logos earlier and thought how good they were going to look on roadsigns across the land - and now I find out Draplin had his paws in there… so rad.

I can’t say it enough man. A total honor working next to you from 2,081 miles away. (according to them fancy online maps plotting a line between Spokane, WA and Dayton, OH.)

Holy yeah dude. Nice work! Congrats on a major project. Enjoy the Lambchop show. The guy 4th from the left in the photo is my buddy WIlliam Tyler, ace guitarist and all-around DUDE from my high school in beautiful Nashville TN.

Looks stunning, sir.
I hope to see them around DC.
If only Social Security would hire you to revamp our drab mark!

One can dream.

You’re indeed being too modest. Your work featured on the website of the White House, that’s really something man. Congratulations!

Posted by: Annyas on 03/04/09 at 9:35 AM

I always thought the government could use better design. This is change I can believe in.
Nice work!

Posted by: Andrius SImutis on 03/04/09 at 10:02 AM

This is a big turning point for the country and your logo will help brand the change. Well done Draplin, well done.

Posted by: Nate on 03/04/09 at 10:13 AM

Wow, holy crap, man. I didn’t know that was you… I saw these logos as the latest post over on Brand New (http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/)

Awesome!

Signed, another bandwagoner who found you via Field Notes months ago and who has some nice Draplin swag around her cube at work.

Posted by: Souldrifter on 03/05/09 at 12:43 AM

TOO WEIRD.
I was just asked to set up your Recovery.gov mark into Illustrator with the Social Secuirty logo for a Exec. meeting.
And then I noticed the cross inside the gear on the lower right hand side.
Very clever.

Posted by: Justin Sirois on 03/05/09 at 7:06 AM

I’m calling you tiger from now on. xc

Posted by: Chloe on 03/08/09 at 6:15 PM

Whoa! I saw this logo on Ad Critic and thought it looked like your handy work. Congratulations Draplin, you’re always a huge source of inspiration.

Posted by: Avantagg on 03/09/09 at 10:13 AM

Hey Aaron - I saw your TIGER logo on a road sign today in the Chicago suburbs, and as a longtime reader and DDC supporter, I was so proud for you. Just wanted to let you know that it’s out in the wild now. I’m sorry I couldn’t grab a photo for you. Cheers!
