An Old Jacket Messes Me Up

Jesse Kaczmarek came across one hell of a sport identity resource, and we’re passing on the greatness right to you, right now: The Fleer Sticker Project. Get in there, and get in real deep. Thanks, man.

Don’t really know why, but this one suddenly choked me up. In all honesty. I had a Steeler’s jacket along the lines of these, a gift from Auntie Barbara and Uncle Tom, and man, that image brought it all back. Just like that.

Wow. Maybe it’s the altitude here on the 5th floor? Maybe it’s the kink in my back? Maybe it’s missing my mom and dad a whole bunch? Maybe just a sucker for nostalgic shit? Yeah, prob’ly something like that. One single tear was spilled, for the record.

IF YOU CAN’T FIND A NEW ONE, BUILD THE OLD ONE: “Make your own 1952 Fraction-of-an-inch Adding Machine.” Brilliant. The kind of stuff I wish I had more time for. Damn.

ONE PART FLATTERED, ONE PART BLOWN THE HELL AWAY: Neel Ryan Tucker writes me up way big, and man, I’m high on those fumes. Blasted. Floating somewhere over Mt. Hood. Thanks for the good words, man, and for diggin’ all this riff raff. Wind in the sails, man, wind in the sails.

And man, how about his photography? Some serious talent there. Great color, great crops, great macro-isms. Great.

Let me return the favor, and hopefully I’ll be as eloquent and sure-footed. Here’s goes: “Neel Ryan Tucker just might be the best thing behind the lens in all of Texas. And that’s a big goddamn state.”

There you go. Wow. Thanks again.

THE GUY I’M SUPPOSED TO BE MAKING A DOCUMENTARY WITH IS STILL “IN”: Jess Gibson “shrugs off” my “being too busy” to “wrap” the “goddamn documentary” we “started and didn’t finish” just enough to “share this amazing link with me,” and now, “you”: “Donruss 1976 Skateboard Stickers” Don’t hate me, Jess.

And goddamn, don’t miss the “Bad News Bears Lobby Cards” set. Man, so good.

LET ‘EM BURN: A beautiful calendar of matches. From Russia. No idea what the hell they are saying on that site. Which way to the embassy?

Maybe start up the new year, and smoke one cig a day, or something. Love the orange. (Via the Coudal Partners Internet Portal.)

REALLY DIGGING THAT HAND/WHEAT DEAL: The Onkanagan Brewery, and it’s beautiful icon. Canada, again. To the north.

That jacket link took me back too. I had the Vikings jacket pictured—a hand=me-down from my big bro— and wore it ‘til the elbows split wide open.

Thanks again for passing the link along to your readers.

Thanks for linking to my set of skateboard stickers on Flickr! One thing about them: I have never figured out who drew them. They are amazing and I’d be into getting original art if I only knew where.
