The image above is absolutely property of Bill Zindel, and we cold-called him to get permission to post it as our “DDC Shot of the Day.” Sorry for the jarring calls, man.

2-COLOR GREATNESS, AS LESSON, AS INSPIRATION: Bill Zindel, from quite possibly the coolest-named website in the whole world, “Wickedcobra.com” sends in a link to a “1960 Heathkit Catalog Sleeve” Flickr set he dug up out there. This one is filed under “Mandatory Viewing,” so you know, tell a white lie to a coworker, and dig into this one.

THAT SAID, SPEND THE WHOLE FUCKING AFTERNOON AT WICKEDCOBRA.COM!: The greatest thing we’ve seen all week! WICKEDCOBRA.COM! Collage greatness. Old and new. Great color. Instantly hooked. Wow.

AND, LET BILL TAKE YOU DOWN TO A SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE TOWN CALLED, “BUENOS AIRES” TO CHECK OUT THE LOCAL SIGNAGE: “Walls, Doors and Signs of Buenos Aires”

“Esta Buenisimo/Refuerte!” and “Boludo!” and “Puaj!”

WHAT WE’RE DOING TONIGHT, THAT IS, IF EWAN “KEEPS HIS COOL” ALL DAY: The Oregon State Fair down in Salem. I’ve got my sites set on “Hypnomania” and “Pig Riot,” whatever the hell those things are. Ewan’s got his sites set on a possible stomach ache, after gorging on “State Fair Food.” Me too, really.

NOT TO BE MISSED: Start by reading this excellent post from Hoefler Frere-Jones, learn something, then, go dig in a grandparent’s garage or basement or something and have a little education to back to up.

WE’VE PUSHED BOB TRUBY ON YOU A MILLION TIMES, AND HERE WE GO AGAIN: And it’s always a good time to go back again. This time, get into his collection of “WWII Era Pencils.” Perfect.

I mean, c’mon, if this page ain’t enough to just make you either bust out crying or burst an eyeball or let out a rebel yell or what have you, I don’t know what page will. I about die each and every time I come to this one: Bob Truby’s masterful “All Pencil Brands” page.

One of my absolute favorites on the goddamn web. Thanks, Bob.
