Goddammit. I should’ve known better. I mean, c’mon, I’ve ran that route how many times, now?

Well, here’s the deal: January just ain’t the time for a road trip. And that’s that.

I’ve rolled the dice on the western winter journey one a number of times, and always been kinda lucky. Not this one. Not at all. The most treacherous mission to date. Still rattled. And Leigh is too. Poor gal. I was so excited to show her how big and beautiful our country is, and, well, we were white-knuckled way too much out there, and that’s ain’t fun. It was bad enough that it had to be “me” next to her all the way out, and, in rough winter weather. Tough dame.

Suddenly, this big country goes from “great, big, wild place” to “dirty adversary.” So, we’re proud to announce, in the battle of “Aaron, Leigh and Gary vs. The Wild West”, well, we won.

We pulled into Portland this afternoon, battle-worn and weary. Road hard and wet, and cold and…

…thankful as fuck to be home and safe and at rest.

Goodnight from Portland, my humble, wet, easy-to-deal-with home in the wild west.

MISSION HIGHLIGHTS:

01. Hitting record stores in Grand Rapids, Iowa City, Des Moines, Denver and Boise and picking up a mountain of good shit that I couldn’t live with out.

02. Seeing the shits at Snowboard Magazine in Boulder, settling in, and making magazines the way it should be done: Mean and meaner.

03. Strong Wi-Fi at each hotel along the way. About time! Phew.

04. Patience from the clients, along the way.

06. Having Gary and Leigh as my co-pilots.

07. Surviving the mission in one piece.

Wow, what a gnarly bunch of picture postcards, I love the series and the names. Glad to hear you made it safe…I guess from here on out, cross-country trips can only get better (or something). Take ‘er easy and get some rest, you deserve it. Welcome to the PNW, Leigh! The weather there has to be an improvement over northern Michigan.

Hey Asshole!

You could have at least called being in Boise and all. That is a pretty shitty move in my book. WTF?

These are great. And glad you got back alright. I won’t even drive to Mt. Hood if the roads are bad, can’t imagine driving across country. Brave.

Those pictures are awesome too, may I recommend you consider making them a series? maybe downloadable desktop backgrounds?

On second thought, why don’t you have a bunch of wallpapers? Your shit is the coolest.

Jim and i had the same experience driving out west when we moved. I thought we were going to careen off into a wintry ditch and never be seen again. We deemed it as some kind of initiation to the west…..

glad you passed safely and look forward to seeing you both when you are back from Vegas!

Welcome Leigh! Do you dig roller skating? Wanna join our skate gang? Tuesday nights at Oaks Park!
