Draplin Design Co., North America
DDC Mission Statement

about_gaughan_painting.jpg

We try to keep it pretty simple:

“Work hard. Do good work. For good people.”

Luckily, all the folks who’ve trusted us with their projects have been “good people” in our books. Sure, there’s been a couple chumps along the way, but for the most part, we’ve been lucky enough to work for interesting, creative, progressive people who we consider close friends.

From all off us at the DDC:

“Thank you for the opportunity to make a hell of a living doing something we love.”

To all of those who’ve rubbed us the wrong way:

“What comes around, goes around, man.”

The painting above was executed “freehand” by one Michael Gaughan. Only one of the greatest humans of all time. Seriously. Our brother.

Hey, just stumbled onto your site by way of Weightshift.com and glad I did. Love the site, really love the design and I admire your tell-it-like-it-is writing style. Oh, and I’m from Michigan too!

Awesome design. I really like your layouts on the Coal stuff. Stumbled on your site just looking at design blogs and found the Draplin video. I see that crap all around and can never get over it. Keep pushing it.

I quite design years ago. This site is one of the first in a long time to make me regret having not stuck it out with a few friends of mine who are still in the business and struggling to fight the good fight. Keep swinging, man. Low and hard.

Your logo in the NYT article was my favorite. It could be a logo for a tractor. God I love that shit. Congrats for the natl’ attention.

Saw your video Aaron, really great. In fact so great I checked out your site and was given a nice warm buzz. The merch is great and the organizational skills you have are ones I wish I did. I am also in design in a different arena but I understand your mission statement very well, I live by the same words. Karma is a bitch for those who choose to forget about it and if all people were to live by the golden rule, with some minor adjustments here and there it would make the world a better place. Enough preaching have a great time..

Happy new year men

My name is Leon I’m a designer turned retoucher based currently in oakland , Ca

Just wanted to say great work , keep it going ,

love the vintage/ classic vibe of your work.
It’s rare to find honest down to earth people like you today that are willing to share and spread the love for graphic design , I’m starting to think that leaving in NYC and now San Francisco is killing my creativity , I remember times when I was just starting that design work never felt like “work” - I want it back.

How do you avoid doing things like web & mobile ? Not a huge fan , I love the simpilistty of branding

If you ever get stuck in retouching work ,let me know I would love to help

You are so funny. I just saw your Logo Design Challenge at Lynda.com and fell in love with you. You are awesome! I love your style!

Stumbled here and glad to see such talent and creativity abounding. Those State posters are killer fun. I am taken aback with the cursing….wish it wasn’t a thang…..let your brilliance shine instead. Great merch and enjoy your refreshment in Charleston with your wallet!
